Hi, I've been painting my bedroom ceiling with white ceiling paint bought from Wickes, however there's one small patch that's flaking and now it's left like a circle where I've taken the flakes off. What's the best way to stop the flaking and also fill the circle so you can't see it and it's flush with the rest of the ceiling. Many Thanks in advance
All the above are true, but if you really want to have a perfect ceiling you're gonna have to get all the old paint off. If it's peeling in one place, then it's gonna peel somewhere else. You can spend hours chasing your roller with your scraper, sandpaper and filler. Or you could spend an hour going taking all the paint off. Good trick is to paint the ceiling first and leave it for 30 mins, then attack with your scraper. The paint peels off nicely. Be prepared for loads of mess!! Whack on Dulux oil based undercoat, let it dry and then two coats of whatever you're painting your ceiling with. That's what I'd do, but I'm a perfectionist. You could just try the quick repair and hope that your filling and sanding can be hidden.

Need to remove all loose paint first. Then find the reason for the paint to come off. Was it painted on New Plaster? If so then a primer should have been used. Normally a stabalising solution or a 50-50 mix with paint and water. So sand down the are and edges of the loose area. Fill the area with fine surface filler. Once dry sand again with fine grade sand paper. then paint but prime the area first.

hi if you apply a coat of oil based undercoat to area that is flaking this will seal it.you will have to make sure that you scrap off loose flaking paint before hand.once fully dried apply two flushes of easy fill 20 then carry on as normal with emulsion.
