Porcelain tiles not sticking to ply wall

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.14 PM

We have been reTiling our bathroom and discovered a damp wall behind old tiles and rotten floorboards below. Have put down new floor and have attempted to retire on ply board (already there), 4 of the tiles didn’t stick (the adhesive didn’t dry)’ then drilled holes in ply and added a coat of pics (3 to 1) but still these tiles don’t seem to have stuck. Can anyone advise what to do next? Thanks so much.

You should not be tiling onto ply in a wet area / bathroom. Saying that, if the right adhesive was use it would stick until the ply started moving due to moisture ingestion. Sounds like you are not using a adhesive suitable for tiling on wood on a floor. Are you using a adhesive from a tub? If yes that's probably your problem.

1st of all you can tile onto ply wood The problem you have got is 100% the wrong adhesive porcelain tiles are are not porous ( do not absorb moisture ) therefor you need adhesive suitable for porcelain tiles. normally in a bag which you have to mix yourself NOT ready mixed in a tub good luck
