Preparing bathroom walls for tiling

Hi, I will be tiling a bathroom and I need your help guys. I am beginning DIYer but very keen to learn so please forgive me if my question sounds silly. I had to remove an old plaster in the upper section of the wall to even the surface. The area is about 20cm tall and full width of the wall (appx. 2m). Could you tell me what should I use to fill the gaps and prepare the wall for tiling? If I use bonding, browning or hardwall I won’t be able to directly tile on it. Could I use one coat plaster? How long would I have to wait for it to dry?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

The best thing would be to have all the wall re skimmed but failing that patch the holes cracks ect with plaster making sure you bond them first with pva then when the new plaster is dry bond all the wall with pva glue. Hope this helps.

The quickest and easiest way to quickly fill a gap would be to cut pieces of plasterboard to width, then mix drywall adhesive, dab the back of the board with the mix then press into position.
use a straight edge to make sure the board is level with the existing surface.
Remember to make sure the area has been primed before you do the work.

Air it's not out by much might be able to get it with adhesive, plaster board it or there is like a primer pva you can use on the plaster to help it bond better. Thanks

PVA the wall fill gaps with bonding PVA again plaster the hole wall then PVA one last time and tile.. that's the safest advice i can give you without looking.
