door lock broken

.my upvc door handle turns up and down without opening door how do I get it open to replace the lock

First thing to try is remove the handle (2x screws) this will expose the lock mechanisms get a large flat screwdriver and insert into the square aperture and turn. This should open the door. If the lock itself is the problem you may need to get a locksmith in.
