Foul smell from soil stack
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.13 PM
Since we had new bathroom fitted in our bungalow, along with new external soil stack,we keep getting foul smells outside on our patio which is situated close to the external soil stack. Have lifted the drain cover and there are no blockages, so why do we get this foul smell? Thanks for your advice, but none of them really help. Don't want the original builder back and presume this work was signed off by building inspector. Not sure what to do. Can you get a filter to fit inside the soils stack.

Is the top of the soil stack high enough to get draw ( like a chimney ) ? Has the toilet moved position, extending the run from toilet to stack ?

Is the soil stack say 1m above the roof line and away from opening windows, was it signed off via building inspector.
If the soil pipe open top end is close to an opening window there are speciality vent caps that reduce filter the smells.
Be careful the smells are full of bacteria and hope not near your kitchen area.
