Bathroom tiling - couple of questions please!!

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.13 PM

Hi i'd like to fill in some gaps with plain white 6" tiles in my bathroom tiling after installing a new suite but i have a couple of questions relating to the pics 1. Do i tile down to the bath and seal off or is it better to move the bath out, tile below the bath line and replace bath. 2. On one wall tiles were two deep (placed on top of each other), in order to get the new tiles to fit flush with the old should i double tile again or is there a thin plasterboard or something i could put up first? 3. There are some small but deep holes can i fill these with tile grout/adhesive or am i better off mixing some plaster or something? I'd like to add this is not my ideal way of refurbing the bathroom but are making do with a small budget trying to keep the old tiles where possible! Any advice appreciated http://s289.photobucket.com/user/danwall3000/media/IMG_3858_zpshbnb7vyh.jpg.html http://s289.photobucket.com/user/danwall3000/media/IMG_3856_zpsbqnck5yp.jpg.html http://s289.photobucket.com/user/danwall3000/media/IMG_3855_zpsqeajbrfk.jpg.html

1.I always time down to the bath. It gives a much better leak free finish. 2.you can do either. The thinnest plasterboard you can buy is 9.5 mill. Depending on the gap you can either use this, double up or spot the tile. ( basically use lots of adhesive, but you'll find this is easier with quick drying adhesive as theres less chance of you moving it after its fixed) 3 if there in the tiles either fill them with grout or silicone if there in plaster fill them with filler As for you last point. My advise is to spend as much as you can afford and buy what you want. It's cheaper doing what you like and want once every 15 years and enjoying it than a cheap make over every couple.
