Fixing wooden slats to concrete base for outdoor seating

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.31 PM

Hi, I have a concrete box base and I am intending to slat over the top to create a seating area, the finished effect much like this: http://img.archiexpo.com/images_ae/photo-g/public-bench-contemporary-concrete-wood-52728-6924387.jpg Obviously the slats do not attach direct to the concrete - instead the slats will sit on metal straps and the straps attached to the base. Where would I go about getting such straps? Perhaps they have a name which would help me search on google? Or would I have to get them custom made for my application? If so, where would I go for this? Finally I assume you use countersunk screws to attach the strap to the slats from underneath, but how do the straps attach to the concrete? Thanks Chris

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I would consider using roof strap http://www.acefixings.com/?q=restraint+strap Buy lengths of straight strap and bend to suit. It's galvanised and pre drilled so perfect for the job. Fix the timber from underneath, leave enough room between the wooden laths to fix through the strap to the concrete.
