Shower mixer tap red = cold and blue = warm

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.57 PM

I've just moved house and my shower mixer tap gives scolding hot when its on the blue setting and freezing cold when its on the red setting. Is it possible to reverse this? Can I get a new hot/cold decal to rectify the issue without any major overhall?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Sounds like its been installed back to front, you should be ablevto simply remove it and replace it the right way round.

Mixing showers simply mix hot and cold water from the household. They do not pump water and do not heat it. Hot water is heated by the boiler, just like hot water in other taps. Mixers do not need a power supply, all you need to do is connect them to the hot and cold water pipes. Some mixer showers are showerheads with a thermostatic mixer and have a thermostatic valve that maintains a constant temperature, even if the flow of hot and cold water changes. I suspect that the mixer was reversed, or the water pipes were inversely connected to the mixer.
