Painting on to backing paper/plastered walls
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.30 PM
About 2 months ago i had damp proofing work done in my living room. We stripped all wallpaper off the walls prior to this, leaving backing paper on the walls which was still in good condition. Now, after the work has been done, the whole bottom half of the room is nicely plastered, and the whole top half still has backing paper on. What is the best way for me to get a good continuous finish on the walls after painting? I have sanded down the backing paper quite well, but i am worried there will be a clear difference between the top and bottom of the walls once painted

hello sorry to say but if you paint the backing paper it will bubble up. Your best bet would be too strip the backing paper as well

You must strip the backing paper apart from it bubbling up you will have a ridge and different texture between paper and plaster
