Removal of fire form decomissioned back boiler

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.13 PM

I have had a my central heating system replaced with a new combi boiler in an different place in my house. This means that my old gas fire and back boiler are no longer in use. Can I safely remove the gas fire and block up the gap, leaving the back boiler in situ but disconnected, and with no fire to replace the old one?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If you like the fire it can stay where it is, after draining down the old back boiler it will be safe from water leaks, after examining & testing the flue flow, your fire can be refitted to the old boiler......if you wanted a new style fire, the old boiler would need to be removed !

in general the back boiler will now be useless, however, when exchanging a traditional system with a combi boiler, there is no need to alter the gas fire, if i was you i would get a GAS SAFE REGISTERED ENGINEER to confirm, a little money spent may save your life
