Plumbing

toilet waste pipe distance from wall

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 2.38 PM

I will be getting a plumber /bathroom fitter in (will be posting a job on here) but I've already bought a new close coupled toilet pan and cistern and assumed it would fit the waste pipe which is in the floor. However the waste pipe is further away from the wall than would suit the model. The metal waste pipe is about 4 inches from the wall and about 4 inches diameter. So as it is a close coupled wc the cistern will be about an inch away from the wall. Is this a common problem and are their any standard plumbing tricks to get round this ? I can probably return the toilet to the shop and get a better fitting one assuming there is one. Most models seem to need a waste pipe which is very close to the wall if it goes into the floor.

Hi, I have come across this on a complete bathroom refit, I found this on older built houses that have the old metal waste pipes. To get around this, and as I was doing a complete renovation I was able to build a false wall which enabled me to fit a close coupled toilet, if you can do this, the toilet will fit nice and snug. Hope this is of help, I am more than welcome to explain more if required. Regards, Mark (Domestic Handyman)
