finishing jenweld oak veneered doors

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.56 PM

I have just purchased some jenweld oak veneered interior doors. I need them to be finished and would like them to be done with matt varnish. My questions is would it be best to get the doors hung and then remove them for finishing or would it be better to get them varnished before they are hung and made good etc.. Any advice would be helpful Also anyone know if I can get them spray varnished and any ideas re cost etc There are 7 shaker style 4 panel oak veneered doors Many thanks

If you want to get them sprayed you could take them into a carbody shop and ask them. Or I could arrange. POA. If you want to coat them in matt lacquer or varnish they would be best done before hanging . Since the first coat once dry will need to be de nibbed. Second and even third coats will have to be applied within in two hour intervals. Watch out for curtains/runs on edges. You can use any brand. Or a two pack industrial one which has superior wearability. Hope this helps.

Hang the doors and apply so many layers until you satisfied with the result. Spray painting is not recommend since the effort of transporting and the risk of damage is great. Best regards Ralf
