cracking paint On wood

Tips for inside a old cottage want to paint . But there is a lot of Cracking old Paint in wood gaps .do I sand it all and use a primer or just primer and gloss it? I hate sanding or maybe use a filler

Old cottage; remove paint by all means e.g. sanding. scraping with sharp objects. The character of the cottage will thank you.

i'd remove the flaking paint and depending on the rest of the condition i would either sand down using an electric sander attached to a dust extractor/hoover with a hepa filter,or use a chemical stripper that self neutralises,i would not burn off as there is a good possibility that the paint contains lead due to the age and risk of fire with the age of the building,any gaps or cracks use a woodfiller hope this helps regards rob

Hi, unfortunately you are probably not going to like the answer. I am a professional decorator and they only way you will resolve this is to burn all the old cracking paint of back to bare wood then sand, undercoat and then topcoat with gloss. this method will give you the best result.
