What is the best way to fix a collapsed bedroom ceiling?

hi rip it all back to the bare joists and screw new plaster board up and have it skimmed or artexed its probably the cheapest option than trying to have it repaired where the new repair might show scars against the old ceiling

completely remove all of the old debris and any remaining ceiling, screw new plasterboard to the ceiling joists and plaster/decorate. DO NOT PATCH IT UP

When you say collapsed I assume the plaster board has come down for what ever reason, water damage maybe. There is little option other than pulling down what remains and buying new plaster board, putting it up then plastering it. No short cuts I'm afraid. Trying to patch will look obvious and hard to match in
