Damp proofing concrete floors before laying laminate

Hi refurb If your house is relatively modern there will be a damp proof membrane below the floor . Laminate is generally laid on a proprietary underlay which cushions the floor and acts as a vapour barrier ! If the house is older , or there is a doubt regarding possible moisture in the concrete subfloor , then laminate can be laid on a bituminous reinforced underlay designed for that purpose . Just be sure to use the correct laminate suitable for the kind of area you are intending to use it on ! The laminate supplier will be able to advise you on this . Hope this helps? Regards Nat .

no,your concrete floor should have a damp proof membrane under it so I wounld'nt worry unless you actually have damp patches on your floor or damp on your walls

If you are concerned normally gives indication that you suspect damp and to see damp you dont have damp meters just your eyes, some concrete damp membranes such as visqueen are pierced by the substrata, compacted hardcore or indeed by the concrete itself, ask a damp specialist to perform a quick check to put you at ease, costly mistake if the floor is damp, also they should check free of charge as if it is damp you will more than likely employ them to provide remedial action
