when painting new plaster, use a mist 3 coat system. 1st coat: ( mist coat ) 40% water 60% paint. take care when applying as solution is rather thin. 2nd coat: mix 10-15% water to paint. 3rd coat: as 2nd. note: some paint materials may require a 3rd coat depending on colour and brand. for example, farrow and ball is a very weak product and not very user friendly. I suggest using dulux. Dulux Matt for standard walls and ceilings Dulux diamond hard eggshell for wet areas such as toilets and bathrooms.

always build up your coats or layers of emulsion on newly plastered walls , 2-3 depending of quality of paint , make sure to use your dust sheets as the thinned down or watered down first and seconds coats will have have over sprayed , don,t be afraid to brush on rather use a roller if you are not used to handling a roller.
