Panelling up a staircase in a 70s house
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.12 PM
Hello, I have a straight 13 step staircase between 2 walls which is really boring. I have stripped the stairs of carpet and intend to clad in oak with some spotlights on every other step ( in the skirting) I feel 2 hand rails will close off this space even more and am considering panelling on the left side instead. I would then paint the panelling the same colour as the wall. I live in a 70's box. Would this be out if place? Too much? Kind regards. Ade Sent from my iPad

Hi Ade
We did this in a 3 storey 90s property a couple of years ago - all flights - it looked great! We used 12mm/6mm moisture resistant MDF (its a lot tougher than the standard) and fitted a panel molding at the cut ends. My photos are on another hard drive but it looked exactly like this - http://bit.ly/1ducsTe
Good luck!
