How much topsoil I should put in on chalk to lay turf

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.56 PM

My garden (50 SQMTs) is just White chalk. I was wondering how much topsoil (depth) I should put in to lay the turf.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If You have nothing but chalk then the minimum is 150mm but the more the better. Even with that be prepared to do a lot of watering

The minimum i would be looking at would be to a 6inch depth, but realistically a good foot of soil should be sufficient to give a good rooting system for the turf to establish
