raised screed under karndean and now don't want it!way out?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.56 PM
We have Karndean in our kitchen, for which the screed was increased at the time to make it level with wood flooring in hallway. Trouble is we now have an extension joining on to the current kitchen and was going to have laminate flooring but can't now just pull up karndean and put something else as it will become too high? Does this make sense, any help, advice ?

you would have to reduce the screed using a diamond floor grinder , if you wanted all the floors to be level again so you could move forward to install the laminate flooring ,That be the best options for home removing of screed as it creates less dust and noise
you could level all the floors with screed but that's a big bill and alot of work as other things would need moving up by the required height

It can be reduced by using a breaker, which would lift it relatively easily, (would only be dusty / noisy for 1 day), then simply bring the surface back with a trade-quality smoothing compound. Hope this is of some help, Chris.
