Removing textured masonry paint
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.12 PM
Hi I've recently moved into a victorian terraced house that has a thick coating of textued paint on the front of the house. I'd like to remove it and have the original brickwork showing. I've had a go at removing the paint on the bay window by hand with a scraper and heat gun which took a long time. What woud be the best way of removing this paint please?

Use a silicone sand blaster for a quick way of removing all the paint.be warned it will make a mess don't do on windy day.and dust sheet all cars within 30m of job.be prepared to spend a long time cleaning up and warn neighbours to shut windows .
Remember to wear a body suit full face and head protection and gauntlet gloves.get the hire shop to show you how it works.
And ensure you have scaffold don't work off a ladder.

this is not a diy job. i would advise against attempting yourself. as most (not all) masonry paints are water based, a heat gun or other source of heat, i.e a blowtorch would be next to useless. best advice i can offer is to get the professionals in. it needs shotblasting. also be advised that after blasting it is highly likely that the entire elevation/s will need re pointing to some degree if not completely. think very carefully before you proceed. good luck.

You will do the old way, which is mixing white aspart with a thinner and use a sprinkler or a glass and spray a place that can be one meter according to it and set fire to it for less than 20 seconds and shovel it quickly. You must be an expert in order not to remove something that is not a tiring job, but I must To be fast
