Insulated plaster board and vapour control layer?

I'm in the process of having my kitchen redone(everything has been ripped out, new concrete floor with insulation, new window created, patio doors to be put in, sink, waste moved etc) and the builders seem to have been doing a really good job. The house is solid brick so we decided to try and make the room warmer and they have put up some insulated plaster boards to the external walls (stripped of plaster). The boards are plaster boards with some foam looking stuff glued on them (says thermaline plus 2400x1200 on them). They have stuck them to the wall using big dobs of some foam looking stuff creating a space of about an inch between the brick and the board. I think they will plaster over it later. Is this ok? Does it need some kind of vapour barrier to prevent condensation forming behind? I just want to make sure it is right as I will be having a new kitchen installed soon. Many thanks Lisa

Sounds okay, the external cold and dew point will occur within the solid brick wall and this is where interstitial condensation will occur and evaporate. The insulation internally using thermalise will give a warm feeling and should not cause condensation. You still need to consider good ventilation in the new kitchen and ensure the external brickwork (pointing and bricks) are in good order.
