Moving a sink to the other end of a kitchen
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.12 PM
I am buying a flat and I wanted to know how difficult/expensive will it be to move a sink(for the plumbing bit as I am buying a new kitchen) The kitchen is 12ft long, 6ft wide, the sink it currently at one end of the 12ft, I want to move it to the opposite end of the kitchen. The sink currently shares a wall with the bathroom, therefore all the waste pipes etc are together. This is an internal wall, the wall it will be moved to is external. Will this be an expensive job? Is 12ft too long of a distance for a gravity solution? Thank you for your time!

Hi hollym16
There are 2 things to consider .
The gradient which is usually to allow the fall of 18 - 90 mm / m run.
Then there is how the pipe outlet gets to the stack. Can the pipe lie between joists or will joists need notched.
Here in Scotland I sometimes need to contact a structural engineer if the latter above is required
Another option is sanivite system
Hope this helps
