Anonymous user 14/03/2024 - 2.36 PM

Why is my downstairs kitchen hot tap suddenly only trickling but upstairs bathroom taps fine?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Dear Heidiwarren 78, There could be several reasons as to why you have lost the hot water supply from the downstairs tap but to give you the best idea it is important to ascertain what type of hot water system that you have installed. If you have a hot water cylinder installed which will typicall be in your airing cupboard it could be either an air lock, or the washer in your tap has perished and is restricting the flow to your tap. If you have a pressurised or combination boiler there is a possibility that the plate heat exchanger within your boiler may be blocked with lime scale or sludge or again the washer in your tap has perished. This is the best advice that I can give you without physically looking at your job. I would start with looking at the tap washers as this is the most inexpensive item to repair/replace and one that you could tackle yourself. Good luck.
