1 or 2 shower pumps in bathroom

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.56 PM

I've got 2 bathrooms, one is an en-suite with a shower and a pump for that shower lives in the airing cupboard. The other bathroom is right next to the airing cupboard, but just has a bath, no pump. It seems like the pump has started playing up for the one shower we have, but we'd really like to add a shower over the bath as well. So my questions are: If you want to 2 showers on pumps, is it better to just have one powerful pump, or 2 smaller pumps? If you have one pump for 2 showers, does the pressure change significantly if you have both showers on at once compared to just one? Is there any reason we can't replace our current pump with a more powerful one, and then when we add the shower over the bath, just run some extra pipes through the wall of the airing cupboard for that shower? Thanks

I would recommend putting a 3 bar pump in if they are going to be used at the same time although the pressure will still fluctuate a little bit Then you can tee into the outlets and run two pipes in the loft for the new shower. You must have a separate feed from the tank in the loft for the cold, and a separate hot pipe from the cylinder ie Surrey flange, and both feeds to the, pump must be at least 22 mm in diameter
