Fencing

Boundary line for a new wooden fencing panel

Anonymous user 14/03/2024 - 2.35 PM

I want to erect a new wooden panel + concrete post boundary fence. What should denote the boundary line - the line of the panels or the outer line of the posts? What has to be on my side of the boundary?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi there, Complicated... It depends on whether it is a shared responsibility fence ,(usually at the rear of the garden rather than the side fence), or is your responsibility which is usually on the left side... HOWEVER on your deeds it will show who is responsible... SEE this link http://www.gardenlaw.co.uk/boundaries.html Technically it's the outside of the post BUT it is commonly recognised that the centre of the post and therefore the fence itself is the border.
