How to remove a strong adhesive in wood
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.11 PM
We have bought a bed from ikea last year. The headboard keeps on detaching at the main bed frame so I used a strong adhesive to prevent it from happening again, now we are going to move house, we can't detach the headboard, is there anyway we can detach it without breaking the headboard. I'm talking about The Brusali bed from ikea. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Consider using dry ice. If you plan to apply a new stain or finish to the floor, this is your best option for making adhesive removal easier without affecting the wood pores. Place pieces of dry ice in a tray and slide the tray over each section of adhesive before you chip, to make the glue brittle and easier to remove.
Wear thick gloves while handling dry ice, as the extreme cold can instantly cause painful skin damage.
Always store and work with dry ice in a well-ventilated room, and leave immediately if you have trouble breathing. Dry ice is solid carbon dioxide, and can fill a small space with unbreathable gas.
Do not store in an airtight container, which may explode as the dry ice expands into gas.

Would a multicutter tool be useful? They can also scrape adhesive off. I have used my multicutter several times to scrape off adhesives. And / Or go to local B&Q or screwfix and get some adhesive dissolver?
