What is the best way to render the side of a house?

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.51 PM

Am looking to get the rendering to my house fixed, but getting confused as to which type of rendering I should choose. For a normal sized semi and covering three walls, first floor only - bottom layer is just normal brickwork Am getting quotes of around £2.5k to remove damaged render and reapply new scratch coat and top coat and paint with masonry paint. Comes with a 10 year guarantee I have also got other quotes that are more expensive about £3.3k but they are for an acrylic render and a longer guarantee. Basically was wondering if someone could explain the difference and advise which is most suitable. Budget not really the issue, will pay the extra if it's worth it, but don't want to pay extra if there won't really be any benefit. Any help much appreciated. Thanks

The more modern renders, such as kred systems are designed to breath, unlike sand and cement which sweats and in cold weather freezes and cracks. Therefore blowing the render. Krend systems are silicone based allowing for movement, thus meaning there'll be no cracking from cold weather. I would reccomend the new modern systems as the logevity is worth the cost and is more asthetically pleasing to the eye.

Could always go with the monocouche render it works the same as k rend and comes in most colours
