Bath running colder and colder each time but rest of taps hot

Anonymous user 14/03/2024 - 2.35 PM

We have recently had a new bathroom fitted. Before this the bath taps were running colder and colder every time we used it until it just no longer let hot water out at all. The other taps and heating (combination boiler) were fine. When we had a new bathroom fitted the chap said that it a be because of the wrong sort of return valve / pipe which he changed, however he same problem has started rearing it's head. After about 3 months of hot baths again we have noticed that bath or show by bath or shower (mixer taps) the water is getting colder and colder. What can it be - boiler is apparently in good nick. Thanks and open to any suggestions.

Hello, This should be easy to solve for a good heating engineer, first check your combination boiler they should flow hot water between 10 and 18 litres a minute on a continual basis depending on the model and cold water flow - remember with a combi boiler, one feed in two feeds out means half the flow . Test the heating boiler at another basin or sink and check for flow and temperature. Then check your bath, if the bath acts differently to your other taps then either the mixer tap is defective ie water crossover from cold to hot or it is piped up wrong. If however at the other sinks or basins the temperature drops off the cold look at the heating boiler first. Hope this helps

If boiler is ok, then it has to be mixer tap/shower.
