Wooden flooring over a wooden sub floor

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.11 PM

We have a wooden floor board sub floor with air etc. flowing underneath from air bricks on all outside walls. We want to lay a solid wood floor. Do we need to lay a waterproof membrane before the underlay.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I would say no because if you covered you existing floorboards with a water proof membrane visqueen for example any moistre coming through would hit the membrane and condensate, unless using breathable membrane, most solid wood floors are generally floated or glued strait to your existing floor, suspended floors always need to be able to breathe on both sides.solid wood floors always come with fitting instrutions and recommendations always follow.or get a proffessional
