Rotten posts of close board fence

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.11 PM

Fence is leaning over, 5 posts are rotten at the base but rest of close board looks fine. Would like to replace posts but only suggesting I have had proposed so far is using concrete supports. Is it possible to just replace the posts, even though it may cost more.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

YES YOU CAN RENEW THE POSTS IT WOULD MEAN REMOVING THE RAILS FROM THE OLD POSTS AND NORMALLY REFITTING TO THE NEW POSTS. SOMETIMES THE BOARDS WILL CRACK AND THE RAILS TO BUT THAT WOULD,NT BE A PROBLEM TO REPLACE ONLY IF REQUIRED .GREG

They are called concrete spur posts that's is the purpose of them you can get the close board planes off three rails with two 3" nails in each one but be aware you will have to break at least one were it goes in front of the post because they overlap on each post and it will be cheaper then replace all of the fence regards DS fencing
