Can I have an open fire if I have gas central heating
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.55 PM
Hi, I've just moved into a flat which has gas central heating. There are also two fireplaces, one in the living room and one in the bedroom, which have been blocked off. I would like to unblock these because I have always wanted an open fireplace, but is it possible to do this when there is gas central heating in the building or does this present too much of a safety risk? If it is possible, what measures will I need to take? Many thanks, Molly

hello
get a certified gas engineer to check for you if your gas meter and gas pipe can carry boiler and 2 gas fires and gas cooker, and check your chimney for soundness.
thanks
