Large gaps between original floorboards and skirting

I have a bad draught where the floorboards do not meet the skirting. I am going to carpet the floor but this will still not close the gap fully. What can I do? Many thanks

Sounds to me like you need your floor joists jacking up, or replace skirts to fit.

The only real solution to this is to replace the skirting board.
