repair of wardrobe door

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.51 PM

I have a mirrored wardrobe door and the laminate appears to of become unstuck from the wood underneath. due to the shop where we bought it being cowboys and we're not able to return it. so i'm hoping there is an easy but proper fix option for this! is there a product recommended for this task? is it a simple DIY job or will i need a professional to do it?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Try carefully lifting the loose laminate and apply a thin layer of Contact adhesive to the wood. Smooth down with a dry cloth. put a piece of wood on both sides and secure with a G cramp (the pieces of wood will stop the G cramp damaging the laminate) until the adhesive sets.

Hi, there are various iron on Formicas and Veneers available that would suit your purpose. The Formica can be difficult to cut, so I suggest you measure carefully and buy it in cut to size. Follow the preparation carefully and don't have the iron too hot, or any water in it! You could do this quite easily yourself. All the best Simon
