Hairline Cracks in skimmed plaster

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.11 PM

I am aware that when re- skimming a wall in an old property (mine is 1936 ish), over the existing plaster, the existing plaster has to be sound, plaster skim at least 3mm thick, walls prepared etc, and that hairline cracks will appear for many different reasons. I have had two rooms re-plastered this way in my house, and hairline cracks have appeared on several of the walls in a haphazard fashion. My question is is there a paint product on the market that will fill these cracks? I do not want to widen and then fill, or tape over and fill - my skills at this are nil and the finish would be less than adequate! That is why I employed a plasterer to skim the walls in the first place. I really would appreciate it if someone could point me in the direction of a suitable paint product.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Line the walls with a reinforced lining paper, then re-paint.
