Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.51 PM
I have floor boards and carpet underlay can I just lay my engineered wood floor on top?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

No, it is too springy and will make the floor creak

I WOULD NOT RECOMEND THIS ACTION FOR ONE THING IT WILL GIVE YOU A SPONGEY FEELING UNDER FOOT THEREFORE NOT THE SOLID FEELING YOU GET FROM A REEL WOOD FLOOR

Carpet underlay is to soft, it will not support your wood floor and make is "springy " and that will damage floor joints make noisy and possibly gaps will appear.
Use proper underlay, is not to expensive, from £1 per sqm.
Best of luck, Mile
