Glossing behind bannister and spindles against wall

Anonymous user 05/03/2024 - 2.30 PM

Hi. I live in a 4yr old house and the glossed bannister is requiring reglossing. The way the stairs are the bannister and spindles run along a wall about 2 inches away from the wall. Nightmare. Any idea how I can get the gloss to the rear of the bannister and spindles. I am thinking cover the wall and then apply gloss to rear with some sort of pad???

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If your gap is 2 inches then you could use a mini roller, the gloss heads are only around an inch in diameter which will leave you an inch to play with. Your local DIY store can sell you a mini roller and tray for around £3 however I would however seriously consider spending a few more £'s on a gloss roller head the foam rollers you will get with the tray are not really that good with gloss. Hope that helps !

HI the best way to do it is place a piece of lining paper or old flat wall paper behind the spindles tape to the wall and then use a small radiator roller and arm to paint them you can get these from any diy store, hope this helps.
