Insulated Flooring / Underlay in extension over garage

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.51 PM

Is there such a product that is like or is underlay that I can put down in my new extension over my garage? Part of the extention is a new ensuite which will have vinyl and the other part is bedroom which will have carpet. I dont want the floors to be at different heights. I have insulated the garage ceiling already but want to make sure that the room / floor in new bedroom and ensuite doesnt get cold. Thanks Kerry

Good morning Kerry, Your new ensuite, is it all on the same concrete ground floor? If so, a good way to insulate is to use backing board/ wedi board. It comes in varying different thicknesses so you can have the exact heights coming between each room. Be warned, it's not cheap! But it has excellent insulation properties. You may also want to consider exterior plywood. It'll do the same job but is harder to secure on a concrete floor...... Especially if the floor is uneven. Hoover the base and use a contact adhesive such as gripfil( with plenty of weights on the ply), that'll do the job. Good luck Regards Simon
