Which fire board do I need to line the inside of my fireplace?
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.10 PM
Hi, our plasterer has asked us to get fireboard for our fireplace so that he can plaster right up to it and make a tidy job. We are putting in a log burner so it needs to be decent stuff. He recommended a place that sold it and they are charging £100 for an 8x4ft board - does this sound about right and what is it called so I can do a search. Apparently I can just paint straight over it? Also is granite the best thing for underneath or slate? Any help gratefully received we are nearing the end of a massive renovation and I just can't think straight anymore!

If you mean the fire board that goes above the fire which the flu passes through then I hope your chap isn't plastering up to it on the inside of the chimney cheeks as you will find the heat from the fire will make the plaster pop of it needs to be render finished smooth
