Painting on to new render in the winter
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.14 PM
Hi, I'm based in London and the front of my house was rendered about a week ago, (winter, Jan 2015). Its been relatively dry for winter and I wanted to know how long you should I wait before. 1. Painting a stabliser on it and 2. Painting on the colour 3. Should I wait a few months for it to dry and paint in spring? Any advice and recommendations on products to use will be much appreciated! Thanks

Hi there
If the surface is dry apply 1 coat of dulux alcali resisting primer(solvent based product) followed by( after min 24hrs) 2 full coats of the colour.
Hope the project goes well.

I would wait a bit longer, it is always best to paint external walls spring or summer as the walls are more dryer and you will see a clearer, cleaner brighter job, don't paint now if not necessary
