Does the gas pipe for the fire place have to show?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.55 PM

Hi I am currently re-decorating the living room and were considering replacing the gas fire. The current gas pipe is outside the wall a few inches to the left of the chimney against the wall. I was wondering if the gas pipe, leading to the fire place, can me moved so that it is not visible, either moving it behind the wall or inside the chimney (or any other option so that it is not so obvious). Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Thanks ISpacesolutions... its a copper pipe that has been piped through the first floor ceiling and dropped down near to the fireplace and does not look very nice. What do I need to use to seal the copper pipe with as I need to embed it into the wall and bring it out at floor level.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

ideally the gas pipe would need to be permanently capped off under floor. if it is a steel pipe then it can be buried into the wall, if is copper then it needs to sealed to prevent corrosion before burying it in the wall. hope this helps
