New timer for conventional boiler ?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.14 PM

I just move into a flat which is about 40 years old. there is a conventional boiler inside the flat , there is no timer for this boiler, only a switcher for it. so either on or off. I want to have a timer for it. then I can set like only run for few hours a day but not whole day. I don't really know much about this. 1: Can anyone suggest if I can install the timer in this situation or not ? 2: and please suggest a simple timer if possible . 3: also should I get a electrician for this or I have to look for a boiler engineer for this ? Thank you all

Hi Lee, any competent electrician with a good understanding of boiler systems should be able to install a timer to your system. It would also benefit yourself for convenience and help with energy efficiency (only heat water/rads when needed). Sounds like it also needs a room temperature sensor as well. I would suggest a programmable room stat (wireless).
