Building regs for doors on 1st floor

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.10 PM

We would like to move our first floor around a bit to get a bit more space. This would involve moving the entrance to a couple of doors. There are some options as to how we could do this. The easiest option would result in a right-angled approach to a door. It can currently be accessed, straight on. For another door, we would need to narrow it to 70cm. I've read M1 of building regulations 2010 but section 7, where all the specific info seems to be, only applies to the entrance level. Our entrance level is the ground floor which would not be affected by any of our changes. Does this mean the regulations don't affect anything other than the entrance floor? This seems unlikely but I'm just confused about what the regulations are for the first floor. Thanks!

I think it depends on how many floors you have, for example if you have 3 floors then the rules will change because of fire regs
