Bathroom Fitting

Relocating bathroom to a new part of house

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.54 PM

As we look from the road... The existing bathroom, cloakroom are on the right hand side of the house... hence all the plumbing, soil stacks, drainage inspection chambers are on the right hand side. We are trying to rework the layout of the first floor. The master bedroom is on the left hand side along with a small one bed. We are looking to convert the one bed into an ensuite for the master and 'the' family bath. The room is about 350cm x 240 cm (so i think should be enuf to take a 4 piece bathroom and a 3 piece ensuite. Question: 1) There is no existing water or waste on this side of the house. Is it impossible to add new drainage, costs etc. There is a house to our LHS. 2) Would I need to look at strenthening the floor - the proposed bath + ensuite will be on top of the current living room 3) Anything else to consider?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

May be able to run new soil in floor void depending on space, fall etc would be cheaper option if not feasable you could always install a saniflo which will eliminate a 4inch soil and only need a 22mm pipe. As long as floor is solid and fixed sufficiently the floor would be strong enough. Hope this helps

The other option is to find out which way the joists run. If the joist runs parallel to the existing soil stack, taking into account the thicknesses of the joist for building regulations about the slope of the pipe.
