Folding or concertina windows

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.10 PM

Hi there we have folding patio windows beneath sloping glass windows which have leaked since the day they were installed. The leaks occur in southerly winds which blow the rain upwards to the top corners of the sloping windows. We were hoping this would be covered through our building guarantee but unfortunately it has run out now. Is there any expert out there who could examine the problem and advise us what action needs to be taken? We live in Menston Kind regards JMS

Hi Unfortunately your question is missing some important info, as is the windows material, upvc, timber or aluminium? I'm not surprised at all the windows on the slope leak, certainly if upvc as they are not designed to be installed on a slope and every time is seen this it's been a right bodge installation. It all down to internal drainage methods and the welded frame, no manufacturer would put any warranty on a frame / window if they knew it was to be installed on a slope, or anything other than truly perpendicular. I suspect the installers were aware of this and ignored the fact, as was the case the last time we were asked to help with leaking, sloping windows.
