Bathroom Fitting

Chip in new steel enamelled bath during fitting

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.51 PM

I am having a whole new bathroom installed at the moment, and while cleaning the bathroom during the progress of the works I noticed a small chip in the enamel of my new expensive bath. It appeared as if the plumber had tried to cover this up using some white gloss paint that came off with the cleaning product (new can lying around not used anywhere else on the job). The bathroom is 80% complete so I can't ask him to replace the bath, but I am unhappy about this, what should I do? I don't want to accusing him of trying to cover it up unfairly and the bathroom is 80% complete so I can't ask him to replace the bath, but I am unhappy about this, what should I do? The rest of the work has been done to a fairly good standard and he guarantees his installations for the duration of the time I own the flat, so I don't want to be on bad terms with him.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

hi to your worry about chip, as installation is not complete i would change bath, point out what you found in a nice way, and to be quite frank, his suppliers would 99% change without a fee anyway its just his time he will be out, or there are various firms that will re -enamel it at a cost, end of day we all have accidents, if we did installation we would change bath, customer satisfaction

Its best to approach the subject with him now. There are various methods of fixing cosmetic damages to most surfaces these days, there are even companies that specialise in it. At the end of the day, accidents happen and it should be no big deal to fix.

You should mention it to the installer. He should change it if he has damaged it. If the bathroom was supplied by a reputable firm he /you depending on who bought it may be able to get a replacement free of charge. Accidents happen but we would always hold our hands up to any issue and do whatever is required to put it right.
