Cost of decking supply and labour

I have an area of about 15 sq metres which is flat and which I want decked just off the ground and wondered how much i should expect to pay At the moment there is a 2.7 x 2.4 mrs pergola covering part of that area and I also want that extended to 5.1x 2.4 mrs which would total 12.24 sq mtrs.That means there would be an approx 2.5 sqr mfr overspill with the decking. I have no idea what this would costs although I have one estimate so far of about £2.1k. I read the reply given in one "post your question" on this site which suggested a £2025 price for 40.5 sq mtr area.That works out at £50 a sq mfr .On another site the figure was double that so i am bit confused . I told the tradesmen concerned that the figure he gave me seemed rather high and he suggested using kits instead but i cannot see how that would knock the price down.The price he gave me apparently reflects " a really good job" suggesting that the use of kits would make them somehow inferior.Could this be the case? Anyway i would like some kind of idea of what such a jobs should cost.Thanks

Hi decking is easy to work out firstly what is the conractor using ie type of decking and ask for price per m. The rails are the main framework under the decking and the main part of the structure get this wrong and it will not last long. make sure that all materials are tanalised for protection and make sure the ends that have been cut are coated with a preservative. the price of decking is about £8 to £15 each becouse of the length, thay do 2.4m,3.8m,4.8m,6.0m make sure you price around first before you get a contractor. If you give a builders merchant your sizes the have a estimator which gives you an estimate of cost you need to add the following costs,nail or screws,membrane to stop weeds,preservatives, hope this is useful.

Could you put the length and width of the decking you want and which way you want the boards to run as they only make certain lengths. Depending on the way it's built would depend on the price less materials less the job will be
