I've used non flexible adhesive in error, what to do?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.54 PM

I ready up about it and watched all the youtube videos i could find before attemtping to tile my kitchen. I noted I would need flexible adhesive, I'm tiling over floorboards and ply. But i still picked up the wrong adhesive and only noticed when i went to buy some more. I've tiled the majority of the kitchen barring the edges, using the wrong stuff (non flexible). What to do? do i rip it up and start again, or risk it and see how it goes? help appreciated Tom

Take it up and start again the tiles with the wrong adhesive won't last 5 mins, you will find they will come up quite easy as the adhesive will not have adhered to the wood. If you soak your tiles in a bath or barrel for a few days the old adhesive will scrape of and you can re-use

If you have used powdered adhesive there will be no way it would come of the tiles after you have soaked the tiles, this will only happen if you have used tubbed water based adhesive,if non flexable powered adhesive has been used then just take the chance and leave it as it is,long before flexi adhesive was on the market there was only standard adhesive and if primed correct it might be ok, I never had a problem before flexable addy was around.
