Chimney & Fireplace

Alot of water down capped chimney

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.10 PM

We are working away from our house over winter for a couple of months at a time - its in a very exposed wet site so we need to seal up the doors etc when we close it up but we get alot of water down the chimney - enough to come back and find it absolutely soaking with water that has leaked through towels put across the hearth onto the surrounding floor. It has a basic raingaurd - the type with a cage and tin hat and had the roofer check the pointing and seal to the chimney pot this summer so we obviously need something more. We were wondering if a self correcting dragon or lobster cowl might solve the problem - any advice? Many thanks

Hi Emma If you send me a photo of the cowling I can advise. If the cowling is not fitted correctly it will leak.. Regards Simon Nash
