Slow Release of Water built up after a leak
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.10 PM
What is the best way to do a slow release of water that has built up from a leak upstairs and there is now a big bubble downstairs in the kitchen, which is about to explode any time now!! I know there must be a way to do this properly, to harness the water and stop it from going everywhere and hence a big clean-up job. Any advice gratefully received. Put holes in the ceiling where it is bowing and place buckets underneath the holes made.
Photograph the damage and contact your 'buildings insurer'. If it a leak from a pipe you should be okay but if it is a leak from the failure of a seal or grout then they may not assist you (depends on insurer and your policy).

If you can get to it from above mop it up, if it is not reachable then I would try a small drill bit the release the water in a controlled manor..... this is not foolproof and you may well get wet but its your best chance.

My advise would be to drill a 10 mm hole in the middle. Be ready with 1 or 2 buckets slow release and catch the holding water. M CORNER ROOFING
