Flooring to protect and go over the carpeted too in rented accommodation
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.13 PM
I am a hairdresser and would like to convert one of my rooms to be able to carry out Cuts occasionally . The room is carpeted and I cannot replace the floor as its a rented flat on the first floor. I was planning to buy something to cover the entire carpet in the room as I did not want the hair to get on the carpets and the hair dryer could send hair flying to the whole room. It's about 3x4 meters room. Any suggestions which would last and is economic at the same time? I thought of vinyl sheets but would the carpet stain/mould under the sheets? Please help!! URGENT!!

I suggest you lift the carpet store it, then use vinyl, stain or varnish the floor. Why not ask the landlord what alterations they would allow you to do, they may be flexible.
Considerations are, who lives below and the noise consequences.
Of course you could just lay down a dust sheet for the duration of the occasional cuts.
